A new patrick brennan quartet explores the uncharted territories of sound, bringing together three key improvisers to explore concurrently open areas where instrumental hierarchies are erased: Jason Kao Hwang (electric violin), Cooper-Moore (diddley-bo) and On Ka’a Davis (electric guitar).

Davis’ guitar unfolds an expansive sonic spectrum, influenced by his work with the Sun Ra Arkestra and projects like The X-Ray Search Light Project. Hwang, on the other hand, transforms the violin into a malleable electric body, hinting at the musicality of the Chinese language and his experience with figures like Anthony Braxton, William Parker and Pauline Oliveros. Cooper-Moore, with his diddley-bo monochord, articulates both ancestral and experimental rhythmic force, part of his practice since the 1970s at the Apogee Collective. brennan’s alto saxophone, rather than leading, transitions between these elements, establishing relationships rather than guidelines.

KnCurrent does not impose form; rather, it emerges from the simultaneous intersection of mobile pulses, textures and sound architectures. It is simultaneity in combustion.
